As we said, it’s been a busy year!
Brands & Products
Marsh & McLennan Companies got a new look, changing their enterprise name to a streamlined Marsh McLennan. They introduced a new logo too – an abstract infinity symbol that evokes the concept of unity with infinite possibilities.
Mondelēz has been testing a new snack bar that can combine different ingredients without the use of binders and added sugar. The food giant’s Dirt Kitchen brand wants to create a “better-for-you snack bar” using new technology that relies on mechanical pressure and ultrasound energy. So cool!
ABB launched the world’s fastest charger to serve the fast-growing electric car market. The new Terra 360 modular charger can deliver a charge giving 100 kms (62 miles) of range in less than three minutes! The rollout will start in Europe, with the United States, Latin America, and Asia Pacific regions due to follow in 2022.
Social Good
In response to pervasive and persistent racial disparity, Northwestern Mutual has launched a $100M impact investing fund targeting Black communities on both a national and local level. With the goal of addressing inequality and the racial wealth gap, the fund is focused on opportunities that will improve physical and social infrastructure; access to capital for Black businesses and individuals; and promoting healthy and sustainable neighborhoods.
Kimberly-Clark is moving its U.K. operations to renewable energy by signing a deal that will lead to the construction of a new wind farm. Upon completion, the company expects almost 80% of all its electrical power consumption in the U.K. to be provided by renewable energy sources. “This agreement is a first for Kimberly-Clark outside of North America and marks a significant step towards the company’s goal of halving its absolute greenhouse gas Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 2030.” This is surely a move to be proud of!
Business Expansion
In August, Humana completed its acquisition of Kindred at Home, America’s largest home health and hospice care provider. This deal is strategically significant because home healthcare demand is surging as the U.S. population ages and more federal funding programs are targeting home health, hospice, and personal care services.
TransMontaigne Partners acquired SeaPort Financing, a critical infrastructure company with significant operations in the U.S. Pacific Northwest. This transaction expanded the company’s geographic reach and accelerates its progression as a leader in the growing renewable fuels logistics space. TransMontaigne is now the only independent terminal operator with operations in every major market within the Pacific Northwest.
What about you? No doubt, you’ve had a big 2021. Now it’s time to look forward to an even bigger and better 2022.
